Analysis of Excavated Soil and Rocks, and Contaminated Sites
The correct management of excavated rocks and soil is a mandatory step in every building, infrastructural and industrial project. A careful analytical characterization allows you to determine whether the excavated materials can be qualified as by-products- and thus reused – or if they must be managed as waste, with all the associated liabilities.
We perform our analyses in accordance with current environmental standards: the D.LGS 152/2006, which defines the Contamination Threshold Concentrations for soil and subsoil based on its intended use, and the D.P.R. 120/2017, which regulates the operational management of excavated soil and rocks. Our goal is to guarantee he regulatory compliance, environmental safeguard, and operational safety avoiding delays, disputes, unexpected costs.

Legislative Decree no. 152/2006 defines a contaminated site as any site where the Risk Threshold Concentrations are exceeded. Appropriate management of these sites is essential to prevent permanent environmental damage and to ensure the future usability of the affected areas.
Pursuant to Presidential Decree (D.P.R) no. 120/2017, excavated earth and rocks consist of excavated soil resulting from activities aimed at constructing a work. This includes general excavations (earthmoving, foundation, trenches), drilling, boring, piling, and infrastructural works such as tunnels and roads, as well as the removal and leveling of earth works. These materials may also contain concrete, bentonite, PVC, fiberglass, cement mixtures, and additives for mechanized excavation, provided that pollutant concentrations do not exceed the limits established by regulations for the specific intended land use.
What we analyze
For every project, we perform:
Analysis of parameters required by the minimal analytical set (Table 4.1, Annex 4, Presidential Decree 120/2017), to verify suitability for reuse as a byproduct.
Analysis of analytes listed in Columns A and B, Table 1, Annex 5, Part IV, Title V of Legislative Decree no. 152/2006, to verify threshold concentrations based on the specific intended land use of the site.
